THE QUESTERS, is a nonprofit 501 c3 organization formed in 1944 , it was formed as the result of Jessie Elizabeth “Bess” Braden’s passing an antique shop on her lunch break. Bess purchased a charming little syrup pitcher in that shop, that afternoon.
After returning to the office, she placed it on the corner of her desk . Many of her co-workers stopped to speak with her about it , which led to even more curiosity and a group desire to learn more. This formed the foundation of the Questers, from there more groups or chapters as they are now called, were formed. They now provide a small venue for learning about the collections of its members and collections available to the public. In its 80 years of history it has grown from a small loosely knit group of study clubs, to an incorporated international historical preservation, restoration and educational organization with current chapters in 34 states and 2 Canadian Provinces.
Join us for a variety of fun and engaging events and activities that celebrate the legacy of NJ Questers. From art exhibitions to live performances, there's something for everyone.

A Quester is a member of a chapter that has monthly meetings with programs that educate, stimulate and captivate interest through trips, speakers, and workshops. Chapters are the foundation of THE QUESTERS. Six people, women and/or men, may begin a chapter.
Any number of members may maintain a chapter.
Chapters have the flexibility to decide when and where to meet. Most chapters meet from September to May. Members share the responsibility of serving as officers, hosting meetings and presenting programs. Chapters may hold joint meetings to socialize and share programs.
At the State level, annual meetings in October and April include educational opportunities as well as social gatherings with fellow Questers. As a Quester, there are often opportunities to go behind the scenes at museums and historic sites.
Many Questers chapters take part in Preservation and Restoration projects in their local communities.
